I'm always impressed when someone can pull off anything as stubbornly un-hip as Birkenstocks. The relative dressiness of his pants and cardigan definitely help.
(By the way, this is the last of my NYC photos, so I'll be back with hometown pics soon.)
Very handsome, and a nicely executed shot. Are those really Birkenstocks? They have such a different, ethnic (is that a bad word? I'm using it because they look exotic, but I can't identify the origin of their style) look compared to your typical, granola/Seattle, buckled double-strap. Is his sweater black or navy? Either way, love the colors and textures. Are the hem of his pants unfinished? One more question- how did you get this man to sit down on those stairs in his lovely brown slacks??
Hi anon. - They are indeed Birkenstocks; they have a little toe-ring thing instead of the double-straps. I've always thought they were the closest-to-stylish that Birkenstock ever got.
His sweater was navy, which was great w/ the pink. I'm not sure whether the hem was unfinished, although I love that idea. And I found him sitting on the step like this.
I love birkis. I have a couple of pairs of that style 'gizeh'. I like the look of brown toes poking out. He looks so healthy and wholemeal. The photo is great too. The contained palette, right down to the note book and then all that framed in bright yellow. Well spotted. You have a great eye.
I love that style of birki 'gizeh'. it looks so good with brown toes poking out the end. So much better than thongs(flipflops). Great photo too. Minimal tonal palette, right down to his notebook, all framed in that bright yellow. Well spotted. You have a great eye.
Wow. You're so good at getting back to your posters. It's cool to hear your input. And it's great to see that your hard work on this blog is really being recognized. Ok, I think I've gushed enough.
jasmine... haven't checked back in a while, but i'm happy to say you never disappoint. loved your youtube interview...classic. thanks for documenting truly fashionable people in our town (and others). seattle isn't just hipsters, and style is sometimes more than just fashion. thanks !
I hope this new Seattle paper doesn't mean you have forgotten about us. I am in a small, country town in Australia. If I had a blog like yours i would be photographing the same person 3 times a week, unless i included the cowboys who blow through town. So I hope that no entry since Friday means something else, not banishment of the blog. xxx

Hi anon. - No worries! My tardiness this week is strictly due to bizziness with other things...Thanks for the kick-in-the-pants for me to post. :)
