Tim Gunn & Seattle's Most Stylish Man
The contest to choose Seattle's Most Stylish Man concluded this past Sunday with a book-signing appearance by Tim Gunn at the University Bookstore:
Most of the nine original contestants were at the event to do a quick spin on a mini-runway in front of the gaggle of Project Runway and Tim Gunn devotees, before Laura, the style editor of Seattle Metropolitan magazine, presented the three finalists we chose during the preliminary round. They were:
Danny, the 19-year-old with an original sense of street style that included pieces he sewed himself
Gopi, a software developer whom one judge described as "dressed the way you'd want to dress someone who had no sense of style"
Ayhem, who works on Nordstrom's house label and who impressed us with his classic sense of fashion
Of course, in the end, there could only be one - and Tim Gunn chose Gopi. Congrats to him and all the other contestants! (Expect a rundown in Seattle Metropolitan magazine as well - likely the July issue.)
Afterward, Tim treated the audience to a Q&A session, where he came off just as smart, charming, and gracious as he does on the show. He also mentioned that Seattle has the highest Project Runway viewership of any city (which is a little hard to believe compared with New York, but hey, who are we to dispute the word of Tim Gunn).

Gopi looks very nice - but I have to say, that's a look that could have been pulled together at Banana Republic/J. crew in about an hour.
Hi Gene - Except that it wasn't; Gopi has a very particular eye for clothing and tends towards pieces that aren't the easiest to find, especially in Seattle. My photo, w/ the unfortunate spotlight, doesn't quite do justice to his style.
is Gopi single and if so how old is he?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Hi anon. - Gopi is indeed single. Age: unknown.
wow, Gopi looks friggn' awesome. he deserves the win! And I think his making it look so effortless, that people think that just any schmo could just walk into Banana Republic and put together the perfect pieces with impeccable cut & fit, that is testament to his great taste.
And Ayhem looks really attractive and refined in that "older guy" kinda way, shades of Cary Grant!
Hi anon. - Definitely agree. Gopi knows what works for him, and his clothes fit him impeccably.
And you're right about Ayhem's commendable "older guy" style. I recall him mentioning that he models part-time, and I'm sure he does well filling that Cary Grant-esque category.
Yeah, I've met Gopi on several occasions as he's a regular in Japantown restaurants ... he is very distinctive and attractive in person. I'm glad he won with his understated elegance. I love your fresh perspective on style (not fashion -- I think there's a difference). Thank you for your keen eye on Seattle. lala
Hi anon. - Thanks for the nice feedback! & Gopi is indeed a Japanese-restaurant regular. I'm sure he'll appreciate the comment. :)
great read... happened when i was out of town, i'd have loved to see gopi win ! i used to work with ayham, and he's so gorgeous in person it can leave you speechless. i have seen him on a couple of commercials... he played a dr. in one. you're spot on with gopi though, when i heard i thought... of course !
Hi ironika - That's neat to hear about Ayham; he's a great-looking guy, & seemed to have a great personality to boot.
Nice, Gopi.
Wow! Gopi is hottt... Evander Holyfield is that you?
