Canoe - Downtown Portland

Canoe - Downtown Portland

I like her scarf with the coat. For all the recent talk of skinny jeans going out, I think they'll be wearable for awhile yet when worn long like this, and bunched up at the bottom.

Unfortunately, pickings were pretty slim in Portland this past weekend - this was one of only two photos I got.

I was in Portland this last weekend also, and didn't see much in the way of really interesting style. A lot of grunge/punk kids though. But Portland is a great city.

Hi anon. - I agree; Portland's a lot of fun, & the absence of sales tax is such a relief from Seattle.

I did the Street of Eames house tour while I was there, & would recommend it to any modern-design fans.

Question: I'm a guy who's been looking for good pants for a while, but without much success. Everything is either too baggy or skintight. The guy in this photo has what appear to me to be the perfect pair of pants. I don't suppose you (or any readers) might be able to identify them from this photo? If anyone could help, I'd much appreciate it. My pants are in your hands (metaphorically speaking).

Hi anon. - Good question. I can't be sure which jeans he has, but I'd suggest you check out some Earnest Sewns, maybe the Fulton fit, which is their straight-leg? They look great worn this way, with some length at the end. Earnest Sewn also has a bunch of dye finishes - you could try one of the darker ones, like the 53 Patriot.

Finding the right jeans is an art, but Earnest Sewn has always been the most successful for me & everyone I know, girl & guy alike. Hope that helps!

I think his jeans look perfect too. My husband would never wear jeans that skinny--he is married to his Built by Wendy Wranglers, of which he has several pairs. They are also cute though.

I know skinny jeans are controversial or whatever, but I love them! I don't want them to go out. They actually make me feel skinnier, and I just think they look really cool bunched up over a pair of high tops or flats. It's funny because I have a friend who writes for Nylon magazine, and she finds it ridiculous that she works at a place where the most important topic is "Do people really like skinny jeans or do they just pretend to because everyone wears them?"

Im a dude, and i definitely wear skinny jeans... I cant stand baggy pants. cuz i find myself pulling my them up every five minutes. i agree that some people wear them to be cool...and dont know why they wear them. and i mean they are cool pants.. but i find them to be way more comfortable as well. haha.. i actually started wearing girls pants when i was like 14, now im 22. this was like a year before the trend.. i skateboard alot and extra material in the pants get in the freakin way. i had my fair share of people making fun of me... but look.. its huge trend now. weird.
